Mobile Devices are a Marketing Powerhouse

Smartphones – they are everywhere.  You would be hard pressed to find anyplace from a grammar school to a nursing home where there is not one.  Given the two most intrinsic aspects of smartphones – they are mobile, they are communication devices –
As of Q4 2011 over half of those aged 18 – 44 years had a Smartphone – that’s well over 50 million people folks!  Add in people outside of that age group and that number turns into over 70 million.  That’s a lot of people to reach out to regardless of your market. Here is a list of five things to keep in mind about smartphones when it comes to marketing:

  1. Ensure your website is mobile friendly.  Most CMS applications have reacted to this to make increase their mobile compatibility. WordPress does a great job of this, and also offers several Themes to help make the process even easier.
  2. Multiple methods of communicating give you various ways to communicate.  Text, email, social media, forums and message boards – there are literally dozens of ways to communicate with potential or existing customers, use the one(s) your customers do.  One of the most important things in marketing is maintaining contact with customers.  With so many options there’s no reason not to.
  3. Location-based marketing allows nearby prospects to find you.  Establish your location to maximize your exposure and get new customers – keep them by offering…
  4. Paperless-coupons/special offers.  Customers reward loyalty with loyalty.  Whether you email  coupons with your newsletter or offer customers who scan your QR code a special offer – they’ll remember.

These are just a few ideas to get the thoughts flowing – what ideas can you share?
